Sam Gourvenec *
Associate, Alliances Consulting (NZ) Limited
Attracted to the country of the White Cloud, I founded ACL in cooperation with local entrepreneurs in June 2008.
Prior to my NZ endeavour, I experienced 16y in the French Navy. Sailing underwater and around the world have brought unique situations within international task force projections, onboard a remote fishing patrol boat in the French Antarctic Islands and at port calls in Europe, Africa, Middle-East and around the Indian & Pacific Oceans. I experienced multiple challenges, from SSBN submarine's pilot and chief engineer to superintendent & fleet manager.
I have honed my skills in dealing with team leadership, stress management, intercultural communication to achieve goals within deadlines, matching excellence in project & risk management.
My latest achievements include:
- Business entrepreneur, ACL. Creating ACL & establishing domestic and international networks.
- Marine Engineering & Management Consultant, ACL/CNN MCO-Forgacs Brisbane. FNS 3 months refit successfully completed within a challenging inter-cultural environment.
- Marine Engineering Consultant, ACL/DCNS-VTFitzroy. FNS 3 months refit successfully completed within tight deadlines & budget. High clients’ expectation fully matched while carried out within an international environment & complex French/NZ industrial joint venture.
- Marine Manager, French Navy. Ships’ maintenance periods reduced from 80 to 60 days a year, Investment reduced by 30%, state of readiness improved by 10%
- Fleet Technical Expert and superintendant, French Navy. Successful acceptance of the upgrade refit for 13 mine hunters.
